A free 1 hour workshop that will leave you equipped to champion diversity on boards. This is held monthly, with new dates regularly added.
About this event: When 1/12 trustees are named either John or David and fewer than 3% of trustees are under 30. It’s no secret that board diversity is an issue.
Join us in changing that. The first step is attending this workshop.
By the end of our 1 hour workshop you will:
- Be able to articulate and understand how young trustees can enable organisations to navigate uncertainty, future proof decisions and reflect the interest of their communities .
- Have a framework to understand how to approach diversity on boards.
- Be able to run a session with a board to plan practical and achievable next steps.

We need your insights, to help us decide on our movement goals in the coming years.
Since 2019 we’ve been working across the charity sector to challenge the norm of governance and champion the role of young people in decision-making spaces. With your help and collaboration, we’ve become a small but mighty movement creating ripples across the sector.
Now in 2024, we want to reflect on where we’ve been, what our learning is and where we want to go. This is where you come in. We’re inviting you, our allies, partners and collaborators to join us for an interactive conversation where you’ll have a chance to contribute to the Young Trustees Movement strategy in the coming years.
The conversation will be facilitated by young people and you’ll have an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers.
Who can join? Anyone!
What do I need to prepare? Nothing. All we ask is for you to show up and be open to contributing in whatever way feels good for you. That could be verbally, writing in the chat, just listening.

Are you interested in supporting children and young people's mental health? TIC+ (Teens in Crisis) is looking for a number of dedicated individuals to join our welcoming Trustee Board.
About TIC+: TIC+ provides comprehensive support services to children and young people (aged 9-25), parents and professionals, including counselling (online, remote, and face-to-face), helplines, live online sessions and training programmes for counsellors at various levels, ensuring easy access to tailored support for individuals' needs. Over the past two years, we've provided 36,528 counselling sessions, addressing various issues like depression, anxiety, and self-harm.
Trustee Opportunity: As a Trustee, you'll play a crucial role in providing oversight and strategic direction to our work both in Gloucestershire and to help us expand across the country. With an expected time commitment of 4-12 hours per month, you'll contribute to board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and annual strategy sessions.

School governors offer strategic guidance, rather than getting involved in the operational aspects of a school. This involves:
- Working with other board members to plan the school’s strategic direction.
- Overseeing the school’s financial performance, ensuring money is well-spent.
- Holding the headteacher or school leadership to account.
A school governor’s relationship with the school’s leadership team involves challenging existing processes to drive school improvement. School governors usually attend around six meetings per year. Although becoming a school governor requires drive and commitment, you’ll enjoy many professional and personal rewards, including career development opportunities and the chance to support young people’s futures.
